"Megaman: Polarity Reconstruction"
My first game, based on my Polarity series.

Between Megaman's first encounter with "Polarized" Bass and the realization of why Megaman received the ability in the first place, another military installation was found with the same polarity-switching technology. Megaman sends himself to investigate only to find a "rogue" Bass amassing his own army.

Wanting to make a game out of the series proved to be a daunting task, mainly because making a game and making an animation are two different things. I learned a lot of ActionScript as I went along, usually inspired by a needed element in the game. Megaman 7 sprites were still used, but many were color coded to identify if they were a "light energy" or "dark energy" enemy, similar to how they were done in Ikaruga. Many Ikaruga and Megaman game elements ended up on the cutting room floor, but the result was still (in my opinion) a good mix of the two games.

"Megaman: Polarity Reconstruction" not only received a daily award like Polarity 3, but it also received the first weekly award (Review Crew pick) and notice on the front page of Newgrounds for almost a week. Easily the most recognizable chapter of the series, it even got "stolen" and posted on websites without my knowledge or permission - and as such when I made improvements in the code, not all of the places which hosted the game were updated. This taught me a lesson in tagging my code with notices of where it should be hosted in future submissions.
